This course is based on the concept of reflexive learning, which is an educational route of guiding people through the rapid changes, risks, and uncertainties of modernity. Reflexivity compels people to think afresh, to reflect on, and to engage with their social environment.
Reflexive learning can have a high potential for application in schools, helping students to build their own identity, reinforce their self-esteem and adjust to their social context.
Although teachers tend to recognize the importance of self-reflection in students, they do not always have the time or the opportunity to experience it themselves.
This course is as an opportunity for teachers to live a unique opportunity for reflexive learning through a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela on a six-day journey through the Portuguese coastal path. It is a challenge of self-knowledge at the physical, mental and spiritual levels.
Throughout the week, participants should prepare a learning journal to share with the group the reflections they have selected. This learning journal is a digital tool and can include texts, podcasts, drawings, photographs, ...
Before the start of the course, practical guidance will be provided to help mitigate the difficulties envisaged on the route.Participants will do the stages backpacking (like true pilgrims!) between Tui and Santiago de Compostela, staying overnight in the cities that coincide with the end of each stage.´
During the journey, participants will be able to collect stamps on their pilgrim credential in order to receive the Compostela certificate upon arrival in Santiago.
For food and accommodation, participants will be able to choose between some possibilities, to be agreed in advance with the course promoter.
